A Gates County, N.C., man was sentenced today to 20 years in prison for his role in a prostitution business.
Dana O. Knight, 33, pleaded guilty in July, according to a news release from U.S. Attorney Dana J. Boente. Knight received 20 years plus lifetime supervised release.
Court documents showed that over the course of a year, Knight transported at least three women to Virginia and elsewhere to aid his business, the release said. He was violent toward the victims and beat one so badly she was hospitalized.
Knight was arrested in November 2014 in Virginia Beach after a victim called 911 seeking help, the release said. Before the arrest, Knight had been in the prostitution business nearly nine years, making about $20,000 a month.
